Live.Love.Laugh.
Before I entered college, I was very shy. I loved being around people but lacked the self-confidence to make friends. In college, I got myself involved in the Student Government and participated in a lot of extra curricular cultural and social activities. This is when I gained confidence, made a lot of friends and discovered my self. Communication skills were one of my biggest strengths. I had given a series of communication skills exams from the Trinity College London throughout school. As a result of this my language was way better than most of my peers and I was a confident speaker. I also thought I was very adaptable because it was very easy for me to transition between academics, extra curricular activities and work. Once I became aware of my inclination towards management, I started looking for internships to learn more about the business and to be able to decide if I wanted to pursue a management career. I networked a lot and ended up doing 5 amazing internships. During my roles as a Corporate Finance Intern at Cardinal Yachts and as a Business Analyst with Mi Consultants, I learnt about my analytical and problem solving skills. Coming from an engineering background my quantitative skills are also very refined. All in all, this is what my understanding about myself has been over the last few years. I am not a follower, I am a trend setter. I tread the less treaded path. I knew myself well enough to decide that I want to pursue a business career. I was hungry to learn and experience new places, people and cultures and hence I embarked on my journey to Duke... |
