Three generations of my family have been entrepreneurs, each have independently run successful enterprises providing employment to hundreds of needy workers. I too aspire to become an entrepreneur some day. As Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India and my role model said in a lecture during his visit to V.J.T.I., the future of the country can be bright only if the youth of the country go on to create employment for the masses. He believes that entrepreneurship is the path to be followed for the youth of the county and I share his belief. However to get to that level of expertise and knowledge to have my own business, I really need to get some solid work experience.
Having interned in consulting, venture capital and corporate finance before, I have a strong inclination to pursue one of these fields post graduation.
Hence I feel I want to work in Consulting for a couple of years until I find out what specific function or industry I am interested in. Once I know that, I can transition to that after a stint in consulting. All in all, life is a journey, there are milestones and setbacks - - it is a process of discovering yourself - -getting to know your strengths and playing on them - - getting to know your weaknesses and working on them - - towards the dream. |
